Carrier compressors come in five different model categories: semi-hermetic reciprocating, semi-hermetic two-stage, SC/SR scroll, open-drive reciprocating, and open-drive and semi-hermetic twin screw. The semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors are single stage and are designed to retrofit with many popular Carrier (Carlyle) products. The semi-hermetic two-stage compressors are great for low-temperature refrigerators and contain a six cylinder compound cooling design that creates a high efficiency rating.
